Liquid Coalescing Filter Cartridges
HILCO HS/HC Series
Phase Separation in Hydrocarbon Systems
HILCO Liquid Coalescing Cartridges are designed to separate water from hydrocarbon-based fluids by promoting coalescence of finely dispersed droplets. As fluid passes through the coalescing media, microscopic water droplets combine into larger droplets that disengage from the oil phase through gravity separation.
HILCO HS/HC Series cartridges are used in hydrocarbon fluid systems where continuous removal of water is required to maintain fluid integrity and system performance.

HILCO Liquid Coalescing Cartridge Key Features:
Liquid-Liquid Coalescing Media
Engineered media promotes the merging of fine water droplets suspended in hydrocarbon fluids.
Emulsified Water Separation Capability
Removes both free and dispersed water from fuel, lubricating, and hydraulic oil systems.
Droplet Growth Mechanism
Encourages micro-droplets to combine into larger droplets for efficient phase separation.
Hydrocarbon System Compatibility
Designed for use with coalescable fuels, lubricants, and other oil-based fluids requiring moisture control.
HOW IT WORKS
Separating Water from Hydrocarbon Fluids
In hydrocarbon systems, water enters through condensation, tank breathing, maintenance activities, and environmental exposure. Once introduced, it exists as free water, dispersed droplets, or stable emulsions that remain suspended in the oil stream and are difficult to remove through conventional filtration alone.

By Separating Entrained Water From Hydrocarbon Fluids, HILCO HS/HC Series Liquid Coalescing Cartridges Help Deliver:
Improved Fluid Condition
Reduces water contamination in fuel, lube, and hydraulic oils
Reduced Corrosion Potential
Limits water-driven degradation of system components
Improved System Reliability
Supports consistent performance of pumps and rotating equipment
Extended Fluid Life
Helps maintain stable oil properties over time
HILCO HS/HC Series cartridges use engineered coalescing media to capture fine water droplets within the fluid stream. As fluid passes through the element, droplets collide and merge into larger masses through interaction with the media structure. Once the droplets reach sufficient size, gravity causes them to separate from the hydrocarbon phase, allowing clean oil to continue through the system while water is removed from circulation. This makes the HS/HC Series an effective water separator cartridge for hydrocarbon fluid systems.
Industries
Liquid-Liquid Separation Across Hydrocarbon Systems
HILCO Liquid Coalescing Cartridges are used in hydrocarbon fluid systems where water contamination must be continuously removed to maintain fluid performance, protect equipment, and support reliable operation. The fuel coalescer cartridge configuration is used in fuel systems where dispersed water can affect fuel quality and downstream equipment.
WHY HILLIARD
Why Companies Choose HILCO Liquid Coalescing Cartridges
Coalescing Media for Liquid Separation
HS and HC cartridges use coalescing media to capture small droplets of immiscible liquid and combine them into larger droplets for effective separation from the process stream.
Designed for Moisture Removal
Liquid coalescing cartridges provide a targeted method for removing water contamination from industrial liquid streams where conventional particulate filtration alone is insufficient.
Separation Within the Filtration System
The cartridge performs the coalescing stage within HILCO liquid separation equipment, allowing enlarged droplets to separate from the continuous fluid phase.
Integrated Coalescing Technology
HILCO combines coalescing cartridge design, filtration equipment, and application expertise to provide a coordinated approach to moisture and liquid contamination control.
