Activated Alumina Cartridge
HILCO AT Series
Acid Reduction for Synthetic and Petroleum Fluids
HILCO Hilite-A™ AT Series Activated Alumina Cartridges utilize a specialized activated alumina media to adsorb acids and oxidation byproducts from synthetic fluids and petroleum-based oils. The water-resistant media helps minimize the formation of precipitates and gels in phosphate ester applications while supporting improved fluid condition and extended service life.
AT Series cartridges are commonly used in applications where fluid degradation products must be removed to maintain fluid quality, equipment reliability, and long-term system performance.

HILCO Activated Alumina Cartridge Key Features:
Activated Alumina Adsorbent Media
Specialized media adsorbs acids and oxidation byproducts from synthetic and petroleum-based fluids.
Water-Resistant Media Construction
Helps minimize the formation of precipitates and gels when used with phosphate ester fluids.
Acid Reduction Capability
Removes acidic degradation products that contribute to fluid deterioration and increasing TAN levels.
Oxidation Byproduct Removal
Adsorbs polar contaminants formed during fluid aging and oxidation processes.
HOW IT WORKS
Adsorbing Acids from Degrading Fluids
As industrial fluids age, heat and oxidation reactions generate acidic compounds and other polar degradation products that remain dissolved within the fluid. Unlike particulate contamination, these compounds cannot be effectively removed through conventional mechanical filtration because they exist at the molecular level within the oil.

By removing acidic degradation products from the fluid stream, HILCO AT Series cartridges help deliver:
Reduced Acid Accumulation
Lowers concentrations of acids that contribute to fluid deterioration
Removal of Oxidation Byproducts
Captures dissolved degradation products before they continue circulating through the system
Improved Fluid Stability
Helps maintain desirable fluid properties during extended operation
Reduced Gel and Precipitate Formation
Particularly beneficial in phosphate ester fluid applications
HILCO AT Series cartridges utilize highly porous activated alumina media with a large internal surface area. As fluid passes through the cartridge, acidic compounds and oxidation byproducts are attracted to and retained on the alumina surface through adsorption. The treated fluid exits the cartridge with lower concentrations of degradation products, helping preserve fluid condition and extend usable fluid life.
