These fast-acting calipers serve light- to heavy-duty braking applications. Sensitive and rapid response to air pressure level also makes them ideal for tension control applications. Quick-release clips secure friction pads for simple replacement.

Direct Acting Hydraulic

Like every Twiflex caliper, they feature easy friction pad replacement and simple mounting. A range of master cylinders including air/hydraulic pressure intensifiers are available, making them ideally suited for marine applications.

Marine propulsion, turbines, winches, wood chippers, car shredders, dynomometers.

Direct Acting Mechanical

Spring applied calipers feature a hand knob for adjustment of spring force, providing an effective and economic solution for light drag or tension brakes where hand setting can give adequate braking control. Lever action models can interface with a variety of standard actuators.

Applications

Turntables, industrial fans, and tensioning applications.

Spring Applied Pneumatic

Spring applied pneumatically released brakes can be conveniently hooked up to shop air supplies or powered by stand-alone compressors. This brake has convenient features such as automatic pad-wear adjustment, variable torque adjustment, quick-change pads, modular design and easy maintenance.

Applications

Steel process lines, mining machinery, hoists, rail cars, and wind turbines.

Spring Applied Hydraulic

Often described as "Safety Brakes," these units are typically installed on the low-speed shaft or final drive of critical equipment. Preset torque profiles can be achieved when controlled by Hilliard Hydraulic Power Units.

Applications

Downhill conveyors, hoists, mills, elevators, escalators, and wind turbines.

Spring Applied Electric

The MXEA electric released caliper features a DC pancake motor driving through a recirculating ball screw to release lever. Thrust is provided by a fully enclosed helical compression spring. Braking force can be manually adjusted down to 50% of maximum rated force. This brake also has a manual release feature.

Applications

Stage equipment, winches, and cranes.

Hydraulic Power Units

The Hilliard Model HPU-E2 Hydraulic Power Unit is designed to operate a wide range of Hilliard/Twiflex Brake Systems. Fully enclosed in a NEMA 4 cabinet, the unit is ideally suited for use in extremely harsh environments.
